What I’m Getting My One Year Old For Christmas

I know, I know, one year old’s don’t NEED more toys or presents and certainly don’t understand the concept of “Christmas”. After a more challenging holiday season last year that was shrouded by the fog of newborn life while adjusting to two kids… let’s just say I have a little extra Christmas spirit this year!!

I mean look at her! And no, we did not get flooring for her for Christmas…

Tis’ the season for influencer “gift guides” and while I am no influencer, I am happy to share ideas for other parents hoping to get their Christmas shopping done a little early this year. My personal goal is by the first weekend in December (a first for me) and honestly, the kids are pretty much done as of now (for reference: it is almost Thanksgiving!).

If you have a one year old kiddo, niece, nephew or little friend, here are FIVE toys my one year old is currently loving (or will soon love). Bonus: Most of these will be enjoyable for my three year old son too!

1. Tonie Box

I think I pitch this at least once a day but I cannot tell you how much the Tonie Box has saved our bedtime routine. My son absolutely loves to listen to Tonie’s to help him fall asleep at night (without us) and my daughter giggles like crazy when she plays with the figurines.

They each have their own box now (we actually got her one for her birthday back in October) and we fully plan to bring his with us on our flight to Denver later this week. Another favorite use?? Road trips!

We love this wall piece that holds his Tonie Box and Tonie figurines – there are tons of options but here’s the one pictured below.

No shocker here that the Paw Patrol pups are his favorite ones to listen to 🙂

2. 10 Piece Skip Hop Bath Set

Parent hack: One of my absolute FAVORITE places to find toys is actually Barnes & Nobles! They have an amazing yet simple selection of toys divided into different age groups including games, puzzles and legos. I found this 10 piece bath set while browsing and couldn’t resist.

Our one year old absolutely adores bath time and I know her and my son will have a blast with some new toys in the mix. I also love that it comes with a big bucket to keep everything in in between uses.

Bath time is a huge hit at our house!

3. Target Push Cart

You know I couldn’t resist this popular toy because who doesn’t love Target?! When I asked my son what is favorite place to shop at with me is… he said “the red one” LOL.

While we don’t have a play kitchen, I think they will both love playing “pretend” with the food this one comes with. She is full blown walking now so pushing the cart around will be a blast. For a toddler not yet toddling, this could help promote a little standing or walking too (with supervision of course).

4. Little Wooden Bike

My son actually pointed this one out (at Target obviously) so I decided to make this gift “from him” at Christmas. He is SO into biking and we are already anxious to get our daughter “balance biking” by next summer. We are hopeful this wooden bike will not only be fun for them indoors this winter but also get her comfortable on a bike.

It seems fairly sturdy but will it survive both kids this winter?! Only time will tell… stay tuned. Oh and will be sharing more one this later but we have big plans for purchasing our son’s first official “big boy bike” (hand brake and all) for his birthday next year.

5. Ms. Rachel Toy

You guys…. Ms. Rachel has Ms. Rachel toys now!! If you know Ms. Rachel, you know how much of a hit she is for the 1-2 year old age group. My mother in law HAD to grab her this sing-a-long doll that looks like Ms. Rachel and plays all her favorite songs. I know she is going to LOVE it.

She has a few other toy options available as well on her website and you can find these at Walmart or Target.

In case you missed it… I did dress up as Ms. Rachel for Halloween!!

Alright friends, that’s it as far as Christmas gift ideas for a one year old goes. Stay tuned for ideas for a three year old because man, three and a half is really a magical time for all things Christmas. I sort of feel like a kid again myself sharing his excitement for the holidays.

If you find any of these suggestions helpful, PLEASE let me know! If you have some other amazing ideas for a one year old, also hit reply so I can share with others.

Merry Christmas from one tired mama to another!

With A Little Northwest Attitude,

Katrina
